COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- This was a statement game.
Sure, the numbers all pointed to the fact that Texas A&M was supposed to win. The Aggies were ranked fifth in the country, Iowa State came in at 14 and the game was at Reed Arena in College Station.
But Billy Kennedy’s team, without making a ton of shots, showed it’s a legitimate Final Four contender with a quality defensive effort on Saturday afternoon.
“It was a statement game, and also a bounce-back game,” Aggies freshman big man Tyler Davis said after the 72-62 victory.
