LOS ANGELES — There is something about Michigan basketball teams under Coach John Beilein that causes them to crest when the calendar turns to March.
The Wolverines have won the last two Big Ten Conference tournaments, even though they were seeded eighth and fifth. They have won a pair of first-round N.C.A.A. tournament games as double-digit seeds. They were national runners-up in 2013 as a No. 3 seed.
This season’s team got the same seed, and another Final Four awaits after Michigan’s 58-54 win over Florida State on Saturday in the West Region final.
Now on a 13-game winning streak, the Wolverines will face 11th-seeded Loyola in the national semifinals next weekend in San Antonio.
