USC football coach Steve Sarkisian announced on Tuesday morning that he will enter an alcohol treatment program, though he does not believe he has a drinking problem.
Sarkisian labeled going for treatment a “part of the process,” noting that he will not be drinking for the remainder of the season and blaming Saturday’s embarrassing incident on combining alcohol with medication.
“The moral of the story is this: when you mix meds with alcohol, sometimes you say things or you do things you regret,” he said, per Paul Myerberg of USA Today Sports. “I took medication, mixed it with alcohol — not a lot, fortunately — and I responded in a way that was not acceptable.
