Tom Rinaldi segments on College GameDay are triggers for tear ducts. His story on Carley McCord prior to the College Football Playoff national title game was no different.
McCord, the daughter-in-law of LSU co-offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, died in a plane crash Dec. 28, her flight bound from Louisiana to Atlanta to watch the Tigers in the Peach Bowl. She was 30.
LSU beat Oklahoma that day with heavy hearts. But Ensminger never considered not coaching, Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron — who had to deliver the awful news to his assistant — told Rinaldi.
