UNLV has fired Dave Rice, multiple sources told ESPN.
The move comes as the Rebels (9-7) have lost five of six and are off to an 0-3 start in Mountain West play.
Rice, 47, went to the NCAA tournament in his first two seasons but was under pressure after not making the postseason the past two years. He leaves his first head-coaching job with a 98-54 record.
Todd Simon will serve as the interim head coach, sources told ESPN. UNLV next plays Tuesday against New Mexico.
