Rutgers landed an impact junior college forward and a potential starter for next season as Deshawn Freeman pledged to head coach Eddie Jordan on Monday morning.
A 6-foot-7 forward from junior college powerhouse Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, Freeman averaged 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 55 percent from the floor. Hutchinson advanced to the quarterfinals of the national junior college tournament.
Freeman is likely to be a starter at forward for the Scarlet Knights next season and he closes out a five-man recruiting class for Rutgers.
Joining Freeman is freshman guards Corey Sanders and Justin Goode, wing Jonathan Laurent and forward Kejuan Johnson.
