Roundball chatter: Illinois' Abrams returns for sixth season

Each week, I'll write about the sport I love: college basketball.

  • Illinois got some good new as guard Tracy Abrams was granted a sixth season of eligibility. He has missed the last two seasons because of injury. Abrams averaged almost 11 points per game for the Illini during the 2013-14 campaign.

  • Congratulations to Jay Wright of Villanova on being named an assistant coach for the USA Select team. That squad named 25 players, including several college stars from last season. The list included Malcolm Brogdon of Virginia, Denzel Valentine of Michigan State, Kris Dunn of Providence, Brandon Ingram of Duke and Brice Johnson of North Carolina.
