As is the case every year, there will be a new face on the College Football Playoff Selection Committee. This time around, it's one of college sports' most recognizable athletic directors.
ESPN's Heather Dinich reports Ohio State AD Gene Smith will join the committee, replacing Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, whose term with the group has expired. Two other members -- Bobby Johnson and Condoleezza Rice -- are expected to be replaced later this month.
Smith, who has been Ohio State's AD since 2005, knows a thing or two about selection committees as he previously spent five seasons on the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Committee and served as its chair in 2010-11.
