Last month, the University of Michigan became involved in a controversy related to American Sniper, the biopic about Chris Kyle, one of the most prolific snipers in American military history. The school’s decision to show the flick on campus was met by protests from students who felt Muslims and Middle Easterners were unfairly stereotyped and depicted in a negative way throughout the film. The university first elected to cancel the viewing of American Sniper, before backtracking and calling that decision “a mistake.
