Iowa will be without head coach Kirk Ferentz for the first game of the 2024 season due to a suspension for a recruiting violation.
Per The Athletic's Scott Dochterman, Ferentz' suspension stems from pursuing quarterback Cade McNamara before the transfer portal opened in 2022.
It's unclear if the suspension was imposed by the NCAA or Iowa, but Dochterman noted Ferentz is expected to address the media at a 2:30 p.m. ET press conference on Thursday.
