POWERS BOOTHE WAS A WISE BUT INEFFECTIVE DEFENSIVE BACK

Powers Boothe died on Sunday at the age of 67, capping a life full of glowering B-movie greatness. His peak is either a.) taking a full minute to die in a helicopter crash in Sudden Death, or b.) saying “SEX IS ETERNAL” to Maria Conchita Alonso for no apparent reason during his closing showdown monologue in the 1987 action film Extreme Prejudice.

Extreme Prejudice is a legendary B-movie for a few reasons. Powers Boothe is in it, and plays a degenerate drug runner in a white suit; It follows the action movie naming convention of [dangerous adjective] plus [dangerous or weighty noun] = title; Powers Boothe crushes a live scorpion in his hand, and interrupts that final monologue to yell at a woman about how she’s not appreciating his fine monologue.
