As balanced of an offense as a team may try to have, the nature of the game in American football will never allow a team to run and pass the ball exactly half of the time each. A stud quarterback or a stud running back usually starts to take the ball a little more in important situations and thus disrupt the balance of any offense. To put this into Oregon football context, this past season’s Ducks included an offense most certainly revolved around the quarterback. Heisman winning field general Marcus Mariota was just about always the best player on the field and took over the offense in important situations.
