NEW ORLEANS — The hottest assistant football coach in America doesn’t exactly recall New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton telling him that going to LSU a year ago was a career mistake, even if that's how Payton remembers it.
“It that’s what he said to me,” Brady quipped during Saturday’s media session prior to the College Football Playoff championship game, “I’m glad I didn’t listen.”
Hey, what do Super Bowl-winning coaches know anyway?
Despite Payton’s admitted reservations, we now know that Brady giving up his low-level coaching spot on the Saints’ offensive staff to become the passing game coordinator at LSU has been arguably the single most impactful personnel move for any college football program in years.
