Opinion: Clemson's Trevor Lawrence, Darien Rencher outline what #WeWantToPlay means to college football players

College football players’ push behind the #WeWantToPlay hashtag on Twitter and across all social media platforms is more than them just trying to save their seasons.

What they really mean is #WeWantAVoice.

The players aren’t just stating the obvious, that they don’t want college football to be shut down by school presidents and athletics directors because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course they want to play. They are making it known that they deserve to have a say in something that affects their own health and futures. If players are allowed to opt out, why can’t they opt in?
