NORMAN, Okla. — It was more than a little bit odd, the way the new kid just showed up one day, not long after the semester had begun. He was nice enough, though, so it was pretty cool when he ended up on the team.
It was quickly apparent that Baker Mayfield was pretty good, too. As their softball team went undefeated, Mayfield played a mean shortstop, and he hit a lot of home runs, and the team made up of guys living on the sixth floor of the University of Oklahoma's Muldrow Tower had a ton of fun.
