Notre Dame said Tuesday that it would appeal an N.C.A.A. ruling that it must vacate all of its football team’s wins from the 2012 and 2013 seasons, which included an appearance in the national championship game, after a finding that a former student trainer did coursework for players.
The N.C.A.A. found that two players had their work done for them while six others received what the N.C.A.A. called impermissible academic benefits. While the N.C.A.A. did not identify any of the athletes, Notre Dame suspended four players for academic cheating shortly before the 2014 season began.
