The Tennessee Volunteers continued their impressive late-season surge with a dominating 45-6 victory over the Northwestern Wildcats in the 2016 Outback Bowl.
Jalen Hurd was Tennessee's offensive star, which is hardly a surprise. The sophomore running back finished with 130 rushing yards and one touchdown on 24 carries. He also did something no other running back in school history has before, according to Jimmy Hyams of WNML Radio in Knoxville:
Jalen Hurd is first UT back to rush for 100 yards in 2 bowl games. That's a surprising stat.

The Vols didn't get much out of their passing game, throwing for 194 yards, but five rushing touchdowns and 226 yards on the ground allowed them to dominate time of possession with nine more minutes of ball control than Northwestern.
