It seems as if Nick Saban just can’t escape something from years ago. No, it’s not anything scandalous or fun, but it’s the constant rumors that he was interested in becoming the head football coach of the Texas Longhorns.
The New York Times released an excerpt over the weekend from a new book being released about Saban’s time at Alabama. In one portion, Saban and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, are not specifically named, but it talks about conversations between Sexton and UT officials in 2012 and 2013.
Tuesday, Saban was in Pensacola, Florida addressing Crimson Tide fans and he took the chance to address the perceived thought he wanted to bolt the school:
“I have an agent (Jimmy Sexton), which most coaches have, and when somebody is interested in you, they call your agent, which they did,” Saban said Tuesday night at the field house at the University of West Florida.
