COLUMBUS, Ohio — Nebraska quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. was carted off the field Saturday night after he slammed his head on the turf while being tackled near the sideline by an Ohio State player.
Armstrong lay motionless for several minutes, and Nebraska’s athletic department said on its Twitter account that the team’s medical staff members had described him as briefly unconscious.
The medical workers attended to Armstrong carefully. They rolled him over onto his back, cut the face mask off his helmet and put a brace on his neck. He was then placed on a backboard and carted off the field.
