Things are heating up in Lincoln. On Saturday, Mike Riley’s Cornhuskers did the unthinkinable—they lost to Purdue. Despite being in his first year, some Nebraska fans are already done with Riley’s tenure as coach. Today, athletic director Shawn Eichorst wrote a letter to the fan base, apologizing for the team’s performance against the lowly Boilermakers, and essentially giving Riley a vote of confidence going forward.
Thanks to Husker fans for continued passion and support. A message from Shawn Eichorst: https://t.co/I8HrazRBpp pic.twitter.com/DZdiZ291qP

Firing Riley in his first year would be pretty shocking, but the staple of Bo Pelini’s program was its consistency, for better or worse.
