There was a time when the traditional February national signing day was one of the most important days on the entire college football calendar.
That time has passed.
Most of the nation's best football prospects join their schools of choice during the December early signing period in the sport's modern age. It means coaches juggling yet another thing with the transfer portal and preparing for bowl and College Football Playoff games, but that is what the schedule dictates.
The early signing period for the 2025 class ran from Dec. 4-6, while the traditional February signing day is Wednesday.
