CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule is adding a ton of NFL experience to his defensive staff in new pass game coordinator secondary coach Steve Wilks, who was with the organization for six year under Ron Rivera.
The team agreed to terms with Wilks, a Charlotte native, on Wednesday.
Wilks also interviewed for the New York Giants' defensive coordinator job, which a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter will go to Don "Wink" Martindale.
Wilks spent last season as the defensive coordinator for the University of Missouri.
Wilks, 52, coached the secondary at Carolina from 2012 to 2016 before being promoted to defensive coordinator in 2017.
