ORLANDO, Fla. -- Miami cornerback DJ Ivey is suspended for the season opener against Florida for a violation of team rules, the team announced Saturday.
Ivey didn't travel with the team. The sophomore had been competing with Al Blades for the starting cornerback job. With Ivey out, Blades is expected to start, but Miami will be lacking for depth and experience in the defensive backfield.
Meanwhile, Ohio State transfer Tate Martell took snaps at receiver during pregame warm-ups. Martell came to Miami as a highly heralded quarterback prospect, but lost the starting quarterback job to Jarren Williams.
