There were few Stony Brook home games that Richard Solo missed during the past four seasons, even as he was treated for cancer.
He was confident that this would be the Seawolves’ year. Solo, who spent 53 years on campus as a chemistry professor, administrator, mentor and fan, told two Stony Brook players about his confidence a few weeks before the season started.
“He was talking to us about how long he’s been a fan of the Stony Brook program and how much this season was going to mean to him and how he felt that we’ve got a really good chance of making history this year,” the Seawolves senior Rayshaun McGrew said.
