Since USC fired Steve Sarkisian in early October, the Trojans have gone 5-2, winning the Pac-12 North with a chance to win the conference next Saturday.
Much of USC’s surge after Sarkisian’s firing can be attributed to interim head coach Clay Helton.
Helton, 43, was the Trojans’ offensive coordinator before taking over as head coach.
After USC’s 40-21 win against UCLA Saturday, multiple Trojans players – including stars Cody Kessler and Su’a Cravens – said Helton should be hired as the full-time head coach.
Cody Kessler said he and the team will do everything they can to see that Clay Helton will be the head coach next year.
