Wayne Selden Jr. was the 12th-best prospect in the Class of 2013, according to 247Sports. And 10 of the 11 players ranked ahead of him have already entered the NBA Draft. So, needless to say, he's been labeled a disappointment relative to his classmates.
That's too bad.
But it was a good thing for Kansas in this year's Maui Invitational.
Selden, a 6-foot-5 guard, scored 18 points in an opening-round win over Chaminade, added 15 more points in a semifinal win over UCLA, then concluded the three-day event with a 25-point performance in a 70-63 victory over Vanderbilt in the championship game of the Maui Invitational.
