STILLWATER, Okla. — College football assistant coaches flock to Guyer High School in Denton, Texas, in herds, identifiable only by the unique logos emblazoned on the breasts of their school-issued polo shirts.
They come to see John Walsh's latest crop of recruits, a veritable conveyer belt of talent that includes, among others, Texas quarterback Jerrod Heard and current Guyer quarterback Shawn Robinson, a four-star prospect in the class of 2017. In the past three years, 11 Guyer graduates have accepted scholarship offers to programs in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Then there's J.W. Walsh, the coach's son, who may be the school's only football product to be recruited twice.
