Paterno’s son Jay Paterno, who was his father’s assistant coach from 1995 until 2011, joined forces recently with Latrobe City Brewing Co. to create the Paterno Legacy Series of beers, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Saturday. The younger Paterno took on the project with the blessing of his mother, Sue Paterno.
“That this is an American company in an increasingly foreign-dominated industry, that it brews in Pennsylvania, that it provides union jobs — all of those things just resonated with my mom and all of us,” Jay Paterno told the Tribune-Review.
The beer is an American lager, and The Associated Press reported that the cans will feature Joe Paterno’s likeness and his accomplishments.
