Hurricane Joaquin could cause postponements of NFL, college games

As the calendar turns to October, many people outside of the state of Florida and other states that get pounded by tropical storms forget that hurricane saeason still has two months left.

This weekend, areas along the Eastern part of the United States, particularly in the Mid-Atlantic region of Virginia and Maryland, could get hit with what is now Hurricane Joaquin. In addition to residents needing to be prepared, the NFL and college football conferences have started to prepare in case games have to be moved or postponed:

The league is “monitoring the forecast and having discussions with both teams,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the The Washington Post.
