Georgia fans driving up ticket prices for College Football Playoff national title game

Crazy things happen when a college football team chases its first national championship in 37 years.

Georgia fans are driving up ticket prices at a record rate for the College Football Playoff national championship game Jan. 8, when the Bulldogs face SEC rival Alabama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta -- just 72 miles from Georgia's campus.

StubHub spokesperson Cameron Papp confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday that the ticket website crashed for close to 20 minutes — due to abnormal traffic — on Monday night following Georgia's 54-48 semifinal victory over Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl.
