ATHENS - The first day of full pads of the preseason didn’t include any actual tackling to the ground.
“There have been years when we’ve done that, but we decided not to,” Richt said. “There’s plenty of time to do that. Truthfully if you do a good job of thudding, the technique we use to thud, you really have to move your feet better than if your tackling.”
Georgia is working as many as four units on both offense and defense on different practice fields at the same time.
“We’ve got a lot of guys getting a lot of reps,” Richt said.
