Freshman Mitch Hyatt quietly delivers stability on Clemson's offensive line

CLEMSON, S.C. — Mitch Hyatt was baptized into college football by teammate Shaq Lawson, who so tortured the incoming freshman during spring drills that Clemson's 18-year-old left tackle would lay his head on the pillow at night and think: I really don't want to do this again tomorrow morning.

Hyatt should've been prepping for AP History and the senior prom; instead, as an early enrollee, he was being taken to school by an All-America defensive end. It wasn't a fair fight: Lawson was bigger, stronger, faster and more experienced, and Hyatt was "getting his face beat in," said Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney.
