Florida State safety Derwin James to undergo knee surgery

Florida State Seminoles safety Derwin James is expected to miss several weeks due to torn cartilage in his knee as he undergoes surgery on Monday, head coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters.

No structural damage or ACL tear was discovered in an MRI of James' knee.

The injury occurred in the third quarter of Florida State's 52–8 victory over Charleston Southern as James bumped into a Buccaneers player. he limped off the field without any assistance before being taken into the locker room.
