For years, the only time the Florida Gators would play a neutral site contest was their yearly battle with the Georgia Bulldogs up the road in Jacksonville. When the team plays the Michigan Wolverines to open the 2017 season in Arlington, Texas, it will be the first neutral site game for the Gators outside of the UGA game since the 1991 season.
That could be changing soon, according to athletic director Jeremy Foley:
Sacrificing a home game can’t happen annually, but they’re worth exploring, says Foley. Florida already has a date with Michigan in the Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium for the 2017 opener and is set to earn $6 million from that matchup.
