FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Florida Gulf Coast University has given basketball coach Joe Dooley a two-year extension through the 2019-20 season.
The Eagles announced the move Saturday, along with a raise in Dooley's salary. FGCU went 21-14 this past season, winning the Atlantic Sun championship and an opening-round game in the NCAA tournament.
Dooley has won at least 21 games in each of his three seasons with the Eagles. He's 65-38 at FGCU, with trips to the NIT, CIT and the NCAA tournaments in those three seasons.
FGCU athletic director Ken Kavanagh says Dooley "took over the program at a pivotal time and has elevated our overall results since.
