Florida Gulf Coast's Joe Dooley is considering resigning his position as head coach of the Eagles to join Mark Gottfried's staff at North Carolina State, sources told CBS Sports.
A decision could come by the end of the week.
It's obviously rare for a head coach to resign to be an assistant elsewhere -- although Buzz Williams did it when he resigned as New Orleans' head coach in 2008 to join Tom Crean's staff at Marquette. But a source told CBS Sports that Dooley is seriously considering the move for a variety of reasons, among them that he can make much more money as an assistant at North Carolina State than he can as Florida Gulf Coast's head coach.
