When Eastern Kentucky rookie coach Dan McHale walks into Rupp Arena on Wednesday to face the Kentucky Wildcats, it’ll conjure up all sorts of distant memories.
The first time he arrived in Lexington, on what he referred to as his “official visit” of sorts, another student manager named Frank Vogel (yes, that Frank Vogel) hosted him on his trip.
When he arrived as a freshman from New Jersey, he cracked a smile after seeing his name on the door on the Wildcat Lodge, proof to his father who wasn’t quite sure -- without any official correspondence -- that his son was, in fact, a manager.
