Dalvin Cook, Florida State’s top running back, will be charged with misdemeanor battery after being accused of punching a woman, the latest of several recent criminal accusations against Seminoles football players.
Georgia Cappleman, the chief assistant state attorney, said Friday afternoon that the encounter had occurred on June 23 outside Clyde’s and Costello’s bar in Tallahassee.
Misdemeanor battery is punishable by up to one year in the county jail, Cappleman said.
Later Friday afternoon, Florida State’s athletics department announced that Cook had been suspended indefinitely.
Coach Jimbo Fisher released a statement addressing both Cook and De’Andre Johnson, a freshman quarterback who was charged with battery last week after being accused of punching a woman in the face at a bar in May.
