The first year of the expanded College Football Playoff was not without its controversies. Would you have expected any less?

SMU ultimately got in over Alabama. No. 5 Texas and No. 6 Penn State have arguably the easiest paths to the semifinals, while Oregon's reward for going undefeated is a second-round matchup against either Ohio State or Tennessee. Seedings, in general, divided opinion among fans and pundits alike.

One of the main takeaways from Sunday's seeding is that there will be a major push to simply seed the tournament based on the rankings themselves, rather than giving four conference champions an automatic bye.
