Bowl projections: Making sense of a college football season of uncertainty

This was supposed be the largest postseason in college football history with 43 bowl games scheduled to conclude the 2020 season. Things now look very different as just 76 teams are scheduled to play this fall.

You don't need a math degree to figure out with 76 teams can't fill all the spots. What's unclear is which games will take place. Traditional matchups between the SEC-Big Ten or Big 12-Pac-12 will have to be adjusted if games like the Citrus Bowl, Outback Bowl and Alamo Bowl are to be played.

The criteria used to select teams must also change.
