PHILADELPHIA — More than 50 years later, the memory remains as clear as ever for Don DiJulia. He will never forget Feb. 20, 1965, when a men’s college basketball game between St. Joseph’s and Villanova was interrupted after the police received a call at halftime saying a bomb had been planted in the stands.
DiJulia, a sophomore guard at St. Joseph’s at the time, and everyone else at the Palestra was told to evacuate the building. They followed orders, but Les Keiter, who was announcing the game on television, refused to leave.
