ARLINGTON, Texas — Art Briles waited his turn at Baylor’s postgame press conference Saturday with his eyes glued to a printout of the final box score, a collection of crooked numbers that helped, in large part, to explain the Bears’ 63-35 win against Texas Tech.
Twenty-eight points and 333 yards of offense — in the first quarter. Forty-nine points and 499 yards at halftime; only four teams in the Football Bowl Subdivision entered the weekend averaging more points per game — in total, over 60 complete minutes.
By game’s end, and despite a second-half performance that left the offense “aggravated,” left tackle Spencer Drango said, 680 yards of offense in a 28-point win against an opponent one week removed from taking rival TCU to the final seconds.
