Pete Lembo, who just completed his fifth season as Ball State's head coach, resigned Tuesday to become Maryland's associate head coach and special teams coordinator on the staff being assembled by new Terrapins coach D.J. Durkin.
It marks the second consecutive year a head coach in the Mid-American Conference has left voluntarily to become an assistant at a Power 5 school, following Dan Enos' move from Central Michigan to offensive coordinator at Arkansas last offseason.
Lembo was scheduled to make $514,250 from the school during his current contract year$, according to the USA TODAY Sports salary database.
