Arizona, New Mexico set home-and-home series to play for first time since 2000

Former conference foes Arizona and New Mexico are renewing an old rivalry with the announcement of a home-and-home series. New Mexico announced the terms in an official release.

Arizona gets a game in Tucson on Dec. 17, 2016 before The Pit gets the return game in Albuquerque on Dec. 16, 2017.

The two teams have played 125 since 1917 but haven’t played since the 1999-2000 season.

“It’s exciting to add big games like this to our upcoming schedule,” said New Mexico head coach Craig Neal in the release. “I am very appreciative of Coach Miller and Arizona Director of Athletics Greg Byrne for scheduling this series and agreeing to come play us on our home court.
