On the night of Tuesday, Oct. 20, Altee Tenpenny was driving his black, 2008 Dodge Charger on Mississippi State Highway 1, traveling north from Louisiana to his parent’s home in North Little Rock.
Conditions were clear, the road was dry and it was still daylight, according to a report by the Mississippi State Highway Patrol. But just a few minutes after 5 p.m. local time, Tenpenny’s car crashed and he was ejected. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital less than two hours later.
The accident came two days after he had been dismissed from the football team at Nicholls State, two months after he had been dismissed from the football team at UNLV, and nine months after he had decided to give up his scholarship at the University of Alabama.
