Auburn likely already had plenty of motivation to defeat Alabama this Saturday – considering the Tigers can knock the Crimson Tide out of the national title picture with a win. But just in case – a little more fuel was thrown on the fire Monday.
According to a number of reporters on-site, Alabama center Ryan Kelly, when asked, had not heard of Auburn defensive end Carl Lawson. Lawson, a sophomore defensive lineman, is perhaps the Tigers’ most impactful player on the defensive side of the ball. He missed the 2014 campaign due to injury, but he did play in the 2013 Iron Bowl.
