The start of the College Football season is still months away, but there are already several way-too-early looks at the top teams in 2016. Joining in on the fun is ESPN's Mel Kiper. On the Dari and Mel show Saturday, the NFL Draft expert revealed his Top 10 College Football teams for 2016.
Among some of the notable teams Kiper left out are the Baylor Bears, the Ole Miss Rebels and Stanford Cardinal. No Pac-12 teams made the Top 10. With that in mind, here's Mel Kiper's Pre-Summer Top 10 College Football teams.
10. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Not many have the Cowboys this high, but Kiper likes this team. There's plenty of talent back on a team that started the year 10-0. For more College Football coverage, download the Chat Sports app!
9. Tennessee Volunteers
The hype around the Vols is steadily increasing. Expectations are high this season for Tennessee and anything less than an SEC East title will be a massive disappointment. It appears the Kiper is buying into the hype.
8. Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes lost plenty of talent, but Kiper still believes in the Buckeyes. Ohio State has plenty of talent, but how quickly they develop will determine if this is too high or too low for OSU.
7. Michigan Wolverines
Kiper is buying into the Jim Harbaugh Era at Michigan. While the offense still has some questions (especially at QB), Kiper is ready to buy Michigan.
6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Another year, another season with high expectations for Notre Dame. Injuries have ruined the team's hopes in recent years, but perhaps this is the season they stay healthy.
5. Florida State Seminoles
Last year was a "down year" for FSU, as the Seminoles won only 10 games and didn't capture an ACC crown. Both sides of the ball are loaded with talent, and if FSU gets steady QB play, this might be too low.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners are the top Big 12 school on this list. Baker Mayfield and much of the offense return and the Sooners want to get further in the College Football Playoff than they did last season.
3. LSU Tigers
Many are expecting big things from LSU this season and it seems Kiper is among them. There's plenty of talent back this season and expectations are sky-high for Les Miles.
2. Clemson Tigers
Clemson came in second last year, and it's exactly where Kiper has them again this season. Clemson lost plenty of talent on defense, but return
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
Kiper has the defending champs at the top of his Top 10. Given Alabama's sustained success under Nick Saban, this isn't going out on much of a limb.
