Anderson, an Austin native, picked the Longhorns over Auburn, Michigan, and Oklahoma.
Texas needs immediate help along the offensive line, and the chance for immediate playing time played a major factor in Anderson's decision. He also has a very strong relationship with new Longhorns co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Herb Hand.

According to a report from 247sports, the Texas coaching staff "hit a homerun" when they visited Anderson in January after he announced his intentions to leave Rice.
Anderson, a three-year starter at Rice, will graduate on May 12. ProFootballFocus rated him as the 42nd-best offensive tackle in the country last season.
