The college football rankings got their first major shakeup this weekend as four of the top tean teams lost, and teams at the bottom of the rankings pulled off impressive victories.
#3 Ole Miss and #8 Georgia suffered blowout losses to #25 Florida and #13 Alabama, respectively, while #6 Notre Dame lost 24-22 at #12 Clemson and #7 UCLA fell 38-23 at home to Arizona State. A few more teams nearly found trouble as well on Saturday as #1 Ohio State beat unranked Indiana by a single touchdown and #2 Michigan State ousted unranked Purdue by a measly three points.
Ohio State stayed in the top spot, but Michigan State fell to #4 despite the victory. As for the four top 10 teams that lost, they all fell way down in the rankings (Ole Miss - #14, Notre Dame - #15, Georgia - #19, UCLA - #20). However, several teams also shot up the rankings, most notably Utah into the top five and Florida from #25 to #11.
