North Carolina Investigating Football Hazing Incident Described As "Group Assault"

North Carolina's athletic department has already had a rough summer, and this certainly won't help.

Serious hazing allegations leveled against the UNC football team have leaked out over the past week, and now Yahoo! Sports reports that the university is investigating. Details remain unclear, but redshirt freshman WR Jackson Boyer reportedly endured a "group assault" during fall camp that left him concussed. From Yahoo:

"[Boyer] was involved in an alleged physical altercation with multiple teammates in his room at the A-Loft hotel in Chapel Hill where the team was staying during fall camp, sources told Yahoo Sports."

Yahoo's description was fairly blunt:

"...multiple sources described [the incident] as an alleged group assault of a teammate."

Yahoo reached out to Boyer's father, who acknowledged that an incident occurred but refrained from commenting further.

UNC's football program is currently on probation because of NCAA violations committed under previous coach Butch Davis. Current HC Larry Fedora is yet to comment on these latest allegations.
